That was the time when we would ardently miss our loved ones. That was the time of hand-written letters. That was also the time of heart-felt joys and sorrows.

In a world where we are supposed to be connected more than ever before we are more isolated and lonely than in previous years. We live in social media, on our phones, tablets and computers but ignore those we have around us. Walking around town recently I have noticed just how many people are attached to their mobile phones and have slowly noticed how addicted I am also to using my mobile. Going out without it I feel lost, like I am missing something. It’s sad that I can’t even sit down with friends for a meal without the phones coming out, put quite simply it’s rude and anti-social. We are missing important, joyful moments because we are on our phones 24/7, it shouldn’t be like this. It’s not living life and before we know it our life will have flashed before our eyes and all we will be able to remember is the screens of technology. Now I am not against technology or mobile phones but there comes a point when enough is enough and we need to stop being run by technology and live.

Gradually, things changed. Sometimes out of necessity, and sometimes just for convenience, the human mind invented things to make life faster, and to make distances shorter. Technology slowly took over. Snail mails were replaced by emails, and real emotions by emoticons. We became more virtual than real. Distances became shorter in terms of accessibility but ironically, the distances between the hearts grew wider.

But who is to be blamed for all this? Is it technology or the human mind that craves to go beyond the limit? Is it not our desire that wants us to have the latest smartphone or the latest cool gadget in the market? Are we not willingly wiring ourselves? Is it not the herd-mentality of ours that wants to take selfies, to post status about where we are, what we are doing, and what we are feeling at the moment? As if the world is dying to hear about it, about us.....How vain are we! When we like some post on FB, we also want our own presence to be 'engraved' in the technological space, so to say....not our footprint, but our virtual print. Just to be seen, to be noticed, to be praised. Technology aids in this, no doubt about that. But it aids because we chose it as our prop.

In his novel, Guy on the Sidewalk, Bharath Krishna write,""Nearly everyone bid goodbye saying," You are on my Facebook anyway", or " You are on my WhatsApp anyway" as if Facebook and WhatsApp guaranteed relationships."  The problem lies within us. We want relationships without commitments. Technology helps us here. I wrote about this in another post We Need Each Other. We are scared to look in the eye. We recoil from gentle touch because we feel its strangeness, its unfamiliarity. We are afraid to be engaged in reality, so we pretend. Technology again helps in keeping up this pretense.

And then we say, technology is ruining us. Is it really?

Is it not great to connect with your loved ones miles apart through FB or watsapp? Is it not a solace that the swiftness of message transfer has helped us stay in touch when we really really need to feel connected? The problem is not technology. The problem is our misuse of technology. The problem is our choosing mechanical, automated responses instead of earnest, warm feelings.

Remembered couple decades ago, not so far, humanity had no telephone, no computer, no Internet, just nothing to impress anyone. Humankind always had the technology available from them into the human brain ready to use and solve any type of problems or difficulties they awareness find themselves into it.

For not so far couple centuries ago, humanity used pigeon or postal mails to transfer messages and communicate. Really not so far in the past even hand-written letters didn’t exist people used at time symbol, design and oral transmit they knowledge from one generation to another.

Eventually, very slowly and gradually the human kind started to realize the power of this fantastic machine name’s the human brain, to develop the human spirit a kind of appetite for progress by using the technology available for them into the brain which is the power of positive thinking.

The outcome is marvelous; because technology is starting slowly to become rapidly take over. Snail and postal mails have replaced by postal mails then emails, SMS which is short text messages by telephone. Then the progress continues by introducing the MMS which is Multimedia Messaging Service and rapidly this technique become the game changer in term of the technology of messaging.

Nowadays the only book that most people are reading every day is Facebook, the most important instant in somebody’s life today is posting on Instagram, our vacation or privacy moment is filming on camera and streaming live to the world, to make money on music and movies industries you must a create a video tube, or movie trailer that becomes viral on YouTube, the real news in real-time is on Twitter.

Then become the era of technology application using on mobile devices, you may know it as an APP download on a smartphone, a tablet. More exciting today on your appliances in your house TV, Stove, Bolt light, security camera and much more, all are connecting online through the Internet of things.

The future will be more exciting and more benefit for humanity in all manners before we get there I just project myself into it and dream, as you can do it too. We must use technology which is the power of our brain to accept the change and embraces it make it become a part of our life.

Ready or not technology is taking over the world, with our contentment or not we must change and we will change because of the humankind brain moving beyond the fast light speed to quantum analytic speed racing. Our Present is becoming the past in the future is happening now because of the power of technology.
